Natural gas leak caused by snow and ice buildup

For immediate release

March 20, 2015

DARTMOUTH, NS – At approximately 9:25 a.m. today, a natural gas leak occurred at 54 Wright Avenue in Dartmouth. Heritage Gas is pleased to report that the leak has been contained and repairs are underway.

The gas leak was caused by snow and ice buildup on the natural gas meter. “This morning’s gas leak reinforces the importance of ensuring your natural gas meter is free of snow and ice buildup,” said John Hawkins, Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Construction. “It is also important for snow plow contractors to be aware of the location of natural gas meters and to be cautious when plowing driveways, sidewalks and parking lots.”

Heritage Gas will file an incident report with the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
