Fuel Cost Comparison
The price for natural gas (Total Cost, $/GJ) equals the following price in other fuels:
Fuel Oil – $0.7051 per litre
1 GJ = 26.1 litres of Fuel Oil
1 GJ = 39.2 litres of Propane
1 GJ = 277.79 kWh of Electricity
The fuel cost comparison includes a 4.5% Municipal Tax charge on the BEC and does not include the FMCC.
The Fixed Monthly Customer Charge and Base Energy Charge permit Heritage Gas to recover the cost of delivering natural gas to residents or businesses. These costs include building, operating, and maintaining our natural gas system. These components are regulated by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (NSUARB).
